Review:
This park is very remote. If you want to truly get away from everything, this is an isolated state park to explore. The park is located on the entrance of the Okefenokee Swamp. We did not have any cell signal until we were about 30 - 40 minutes outside the campgrounds. There is cable tv hookup provided. There is a small campstore, be sure and stock up with all your supplies before arrival as the nearest town is an hour away. At the store there are kayak rentals and guided tours into the swamp. The sites are small, if you have a larger rig request a pull through. These are located closer to the entrance gate.
Kayaking was amazing. We were boating with alligators. The only people we saw were on guided tours every once in a while. We basically had the entire swamp to ourselves. There are markers for sight seeing and hiking on islands within the waterways. This park is a great escape from everything. Has everything for a person who enjoys the outdoors with hiking, fishing, kayaking, riding bikes and wildlife watching. The spiders were the largest I have ever seen camping. The had webs in the trees between campspots. So be sure and watch where you are walking.
We took a day trip to the
Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge where we took a guided swamp tour and fished. There are very nice covered picnic table and grills. We truly enjoyed the day at this very well kept, clean park. The sky at night was crazy. Sorry about the live action photos. HATE them... so disabled the process from now on.
